A 92-year-old woman hurt in an early morning blaze in Scappoose earlier this week has died, fire officials say.
Firefighters responded to the home in the 33900 block of Southeast Elm Street Monday around 1:45 a.m.
Police were first to arrive on the scene and said the single-story home was engulfed in flames.
Officers reported two people had evacuated, one of them the 92-year-old woman.
According to the Scappoose Fire District, the other person, a male, was treated on scene and transported by family to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.
The 92-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital, but later died due to injuries sustained in the fire, officials say.
The male was a family member temporarily staying at the house, according to firefighters. The 92-year-old woman was the only permanent resident of the home.
Two dogs who were in the home at the time of the fire were found dead later Monday morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
