Two dogs died and two people were hurt after a blaze burned through a home in Scappoose early Monday morning.

Scappoose Fire District firefighters were called out to the single-story home in the 30000 block of Southeast Elm Street at around 1:45 a.m.

When crews arrived, they say the home was engulfed in flames.

One of the people who were hurt, a male, was treated at the scene and released, firefighters said.

The other person, a female, is recovering at an area hospital.

The dogs were found dead later Monday morning inside the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
