A 37-year-old man was arrested Monday afternoon after police say he used racial slurs and threatened a teen in Beaverton.
Officers were called to the area of Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway and Southwest Murray Boulevard at 4:43 p.m. after a disturbance was reported by several people.
When officers arrived to the scene, several witnesses told them that the suspect, identified as Samuel Harris Corbett, was pursuing a 17-year-old black female in the roadway and was making threats of physical harm and using racial slurs.
Witnesses told officers that they put themselves between Corbett and the victim. Police said the victim was able to seek shelter in a convenience store while witnesses blocked Corbett from entering the business.
Corbett was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of intimidation in the second degree, menacing, disorderly conduct in the second degree, and harassment.
The Beaverton Police Department said they would like to thank the community members who helped the victim.
Police said a Beaverton Police Victim Advocate has reached out to the victim and her family to provide any services they may need.
