Kah-Nee-Ta Resort & Spa in central Oregon is set to shut down in September.

The Warm Springs destination will close “all outlets” on Sept. 5, according to information submitted to the state.

A notice was given to resort employees Friday, according to the Oregon Dislocated Worker Unit. The closure is described as permanent and 146 employees will be laid off.

In the letter Kah-Nee-Ta distributed to employees, executives said they are searching for a “pathway to financing.”

“However, with no lease in place, the resort cannot continue operating below a self-sustaining level. This is necessary to ensure we protect any further risk to the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs,” according to the letter.

According to a breakdown of employees provided to the state, 54 work in food and beverage, 40 are connected with rooms, 29 work in the recreation, spa or gift departments, while another 16 tend to maintenance and seven are in administration.

FOX 12 reached out to Kah-Nee-Ta executives, but did not immediately receive a statement on the situation.
